"Dedicated to restoring lives and empowering communities through world-class reconstructive and burn care since 1998."
Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH), run by Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust (SKMT), is Nepal's leading not-for-profit facility for burn, plastic, and reconstructive surgeries. Established with Interplast Germany’s support, it provides low-cost care to underprivileged communities, inspired by Late Sushma Koirala’s vision and led by founder Sujata Koirala. SKMH integrates with SKMT’s mission to combat poverty and empower marginalized groups through healthcare.
For over 25 years, SKMH has been a center of excellence in burn treatment, reconstructive surgery, and comprehensive healthcare—transforming thousands of lives through advanced medical expertise and social commitment. In collaboration with Interplast Germany e.V., the Government of Nepal, and SKMT, the hospital extends its impact beyond its wards through rural outreach, health education, and training programs, bridging the gap between modern medicine and those who need it most.
To be a leading healthcare institution in South Asia recognized for excellence in reconstructive surgery, burn care, and holistic healthcare—ensuring that every patient, regardless of their background, has access to quality treatment and dignity in care.
Restoring function, dignity, and hope for patients with burns, congenital conditions, and trauma-related injuries.
Building local expertise through continuous training, research, and knowledge exchange with global medical partners.
Promoting awareness, preventive care, and outreach services that extend healing beyond the hospital walls into rural and underserved regions.
Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH) is operated under the Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust (SKMT) in collaboration with Interplast Germany — an international non-governmental organization dedicated to providing reconstructive surgical care and training. Together, they work towards making quality healthcare accessible to all, with a special focus on burn treatment, reconstructive surgery, and community health programs across Nepal.
