A New Smile for Pragyan: Changing a Life Before the First Birthday

In the spring of 2025, we welcomed one of our youngest patients—eight-month-old Pragyan, a baby boy born with a cleft lip and palate. His parents first brought him to Sushma Koirala Memorial (SKM) Hospital in November 2024. At that time, he weighed just under 4 kilograms—too fragile for surgery. Worried but hopeful, his parents waited patiently as our team advised delaying the operation until he grew stronger.

By March, the time had come. With care and precision, Nepalese surgeon Dr. Manohar and visiting German physician Dr. Bergermann performed the corrective surgery that would mark a new beginning for Pragyan. Behind the scenes, nurses, caregivers, and support staff played a vital role in comforting him and guiding his family through every step of the process.

Today, baby Pragyan is thriving, flashing the beginnings of a confident smile that tells a story of resilience, expertise, and hope.
